After One Week down Time

I had an one whole week down time. Not just this blog but also around 20 sites.I had to spend over 2 days contacting VPS  support and Godaddy. Godaddy support as usually pretty useless and was taking 10 hours per reply. At least I’m about my VPS support because they were trying to help though I had to point out most error by my self. Anyway I have learned few lessons.

  • If your hosting service  sending your mail with new details of your package and ask you to update your name servers or IP addresses then do it right away. Don’t want till your sites go down.
  • Also make sure your new info are accurate. Like if you have a VPS and they moved you to a new node and see if they had sent old ips. If those are, then get a confirm they are the correct IPs.

Here first I had updated IP addresses and then waited for 3 days for those to propagate. It hadn’t happen and had to contact Hosting support. They sent me 2 IPs which were new and it seems they had sent me wrong IPs before.  So changed IP’s again and waited another 2 days. But it didn’t work and found there are few problems in my vps node. So finally everything seems working fine.

Also these days I’m playing with a un-managed VPS trying to learn all about installations and security setting. I have just finished installing Kloxo. I’m so glad it works all fine !
