Godaddy Web Hosting

Last Saturday our Manga Forums Web Hosting provider send us a mail asking us to move the forum to another web hosting place because it takes more server resources than his reseller account can offer. He gave us 48 hours and recommend use to go for a VPS ( Virtual Dedicated Server ). But since this site is not giving income or has no revenue spending 30 USD per month is a NO. Also almost all shared web hosting providers don’t like this kind of sites which has lot of data base activities and take lot of server resources. So we hadn’t had many options. Also it was weekend so it made things harder.

So the best choice we could found at that time was Godaddy shared Web hosting. Good things about Godaddy shared Hosting are cheap prices(4.29/mo) , 10 GB web Space, 300 GB Transfer, 10 MySQL Databases etc. Bad things are no cpanel ( it take little time to understand their own contorl panel ), Their web statistics program is not good at all ( miss aw stats ), Their FAQs and help files are useless ( Better search in Google or post in webmaster forums for help ), Everything is different than in normal web hosting control panels like Cpanel or Direct Admin.

It took nearly whole day for me to figure out everything. But at end I realised its not that bad when you know how to do it and what to do. I really miss Cpanel when it comes to backups and Awstats. For Awstat Google Anlytic is the alternative.

Something I realised when I d searched Google for Godaddy Hosting problems I encountered is that Many face same  set of common problems like How to Setup sub domains, How to find the MySql Host ect. So I guess I ll Try to make set of posts about  these common Godaddy Web Hosting problems.

Well Godaddy Web hosting is not that bad as peope say. But there are things you miss like cpanel. Its Just you have to take time and understand their system. Their uptime is really great and Godaddy shared Hosting package is worth its price. They are one of the best cheap hosting providers you can find today. Specailly if you have a big site with lot of traffic but less or no income to go for a VPS or Dedicated server Then Godaddy hosting is one good option.

Choosing a Good web hosting company is one of the main headaches a webmaster would have. Specially if the web site gives you a good income. Every minute your website stay online is important. Main thing everyone would concerned is the price. But price is not the only thing matters here. here nice little article about other things you should pay attention when you are going to choose a web host.

1. Understand the differing types of hosts: shared, collocated, unmanaged dedicated, and managed dedicated. Is your site brand new with little traffic? In the event your site is a newer domain, you won’t need the raw power of a dedicated server unless your site is resource intensive which can include: streaming, video’s, proxies and even linking to videos as well can cause a high load on Apache and the CPU(s).

2. Go for stability, not just size. Just because the host if offering you unmetered and unlimited space, doesn’t mean you should soley base your decision on that. What good is that account to you when your site is down or the server is overloaded? Research how long the hosting business has been in operation. See if they have recently changed ownership, and if they show positive cash flow.

3. The possession of fully redundant data centers. If you are considering doing business with a smaller hosting vendor, ensure that they have adequate power and connectivity capabilities. Inquire as to the number of lines the facility has. Do they possess an on-site generator? Does the generator receive regular checks and maintenance? What is the average utilization of the connections available?

4. How skilled is their staff? When you need customer service of a technical nature, you need it immediately, right? Find out the availability of their systems administrators. Send them a support ticket and see how fast they respond.

5. Other customer’s reviews of the hosting services. Same as any business, the hosting vendor should be able to provide good references.

6. Is the potential host flexible? In the future, your needs may change. Can you upgrade services should the need arise?

7. This step of course, is optional. Make sure that the host does not have blacklisted IPs. The host that you want to do business with would not be one that promotes illegal sites, spammers, or other security issues. You are considering associating your business with this host. You could always ask them what web server they plan to put you on.

8. Begin with and maintain a clear and written understanding of all services and all charges for them. If questions still remain or some terms are unclear it is strongly advised that you ask for clarification before signing up for anything.

If you do your research before beginning business, you will find a better avenue to the successful hosting, and thereby promotion, of your online business. Take your time in making this important decision.
